For my Olympic Bid I was given Frankfurt, Germany’s bid for the Winter Olympics.

Frankfurt in Germany’s 5th largest city and has a rich past as an important city in the Holy Roman empire as well a host to impressive modern structures built after large portions of the city was destroyed in WWII. Here are some architecture examples I’m using for my logo design exploration:

Frankfurt’s modern Central Station
The Skyline with several of the city’s skyscrapers
Frankfurt’s historical district

Here are other German cities pervious Olympic bid logos as well as an EUFA football logo:

I chose to explore and rework my eagle idea, giving it a more German, Bauhaus feel as well as resembling the eagle on Frankfurt’s flag a little closer.

Final Rationale: My Olympic bid is for Frankfurt, Germany in Winter 2038. I drew my inspiration combining the eagle from the city’s flag with the German Bauhaus design aesthetic. In reference to my color decisions: the bronze reflects the historic side of Frankfurt, referencing it’s importance as a part of the Holy Roman Empire. Additionally, the deep purple contributes to fitting a darker, winter aesthetic. My font choice Brandon Grotesque. I chose it for its versatility in both its bold and thin variations and its overall square height/width. I feel very strongly about my design choices for this project, I had a great time exploring different ideas and I think I made a successful logo!
