Blog 7: Course Survey
- Reflect on what you learned this semester.
What area was the most challenging for you to learn? Why? Did you spend enough time on your own practicing?
I think the trickiest part of web development for me was the more repetitive aspect of it. I would often forget to do little but important things like alt text on images. On a similar note I just learned how to assign alt text to images in WebFlow so I Apologize!! for the lack of alt text in my project 2 :(
2. What area was the easiest to learn? Why? Do you feel we can spend less time on it?
I honestly felt like everything was covered appropriately. Since the course was online extra reminders were always welcome for our less attentive days.
3. Is there anything you feel could be taken out of the course entirely?
What is one area you wish we spent more time on?
I do wish we spent more time on Webflow because I felt like I could had learned more from the program, although I do think I needed the time I did to learn the basics. I can’t think of anything I would remove from the course.
4. We have spoken extensively this term about the transition to Webflow from Dreamweaver. Webflow is undoubtedly preferred because it does not require “hand-coding,” faster in development times, but still requires an understanding of HTML/CSS. However, you are limited to the tool and without learning HTML/CSS outside the program, would be lost entirely if you only learned in Webflow. My question to you: Do you feel we could introduce Webflow sooner in the course? Would you had been willing to spend money on an HTML/CSS learning tool other than Dreamweaver for the start of the course? Please share any thoughts you have for improving the course and applications used within the course in the future.
I think Dreamweaver was good to learn the basics of HTML and CSS, although I think if we could have started WebFlow a little earlier, I could have explored more of the features to make a more in depth final project. I don’t think people would be very receptive on spending extra money on a different program from Dreamweaver though.
