Blog 6, Responsiveness Analysis
For my examples of responsive websites, I chose to take a look at two different entertainment news sites. Both of the clickbait variety, of course.
For my example of a responsive website that has some issues, I chose stylist.co.uk. One of the main problems I saw in the website was the navigation bar at the top of the website. In the desktop version, it has 7 tabs, except when you click on a link, then it briefly displays just 4 link. Very Unusual. In the mobile and tablet versions it only displays those 4 links, you have to press the hamburger button to get all the links.
At the top of the page, their is a large ad. To circumvent this, the have a “skip to content” button that takes you past the ad and to the articles. When I tested this on the mobile version, there was no top ad so when I pressed the button it scrolled me an inch down the page for no reason. One improvement that could be made is have their social links higher in the page.
My example of a good responsive website is nylon.com. I am a fan of the header that appears as you scroll down. The text is maybe a bit big on the desktop version, but it fits nicely on the mobile and tablet versions. There is a brief loading screen between pages that I think looks nice as well. I also like the aesthetic that carries through the pages.
